Amy Kohl and her husband Brian live in Slinger, Wisconsin, approximately 40 minutes from Milwaukee. They have two grown children, Adam and Becca, and always seem to have two rescue dogs in the family. Amy has worked for twenty years in the Wisconsin Public Schools as a Business Administrator/CFO and has always had a “place in her heart” for the success of the Special Education students and families in the districts and communities where she has worked. Brian also has an accounting background however has worked the majority of his career as a self-employed contractor, with a keen eye for business. Their son, Adam, is in the mechanical and computer engineering field and their daughter, Becca, has her undergrad in Speech Therapy and is currently a Special Education teacher at a local elementary school.
In April 2021, Amy saw a news piece on We Rock the Spectrum – Milwaukee, and knew immediately that this was “IT”! This was that “special something” that would give her a renewed sense of purpose in her life, and offer so many opportunities for the children and families in her surrounding communities. Although their children are grown, Amy and Brian know how blessed they have been in their lives with a solid support group and know that so many are not as fortunate, or have struggled to find resources and solutions for their children. They say that Becca has been quite the inspiration to them, as a Special Education aide, now teacher, and a caregiver in the autism community.
Amy and Brian feel that it’s their turn to pick up the baton and be a light in the dark for so many families in the Washington County community. All the pieces of the puzzle have really come together with We Rock the Spectrum – Washington County!
